Pet Care through COVID-19

As we begin to adapt to different ways of living, life restrictions, and social distancing, we embark on new and creative ways to deliver quality care for pets and the families who love them dearly. Vets in the City is NOW offering remote healthcare services using Televet! With the Televet app you can easily send virtual consultations to us when your pet is sick or injured.


As Telemedicine becomes increasingly more available for veterinary providers and their clients, we as veterinary professionals are expected to adhere to certain guidelines. Telemedicine allows a doctor to diagnose and prescribe medication for clients with a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient-Relatonship. According to the New York State Law, a valid VCPR exists when a client's pet has been physically examined by a veterinarian within the past year. Clients with a valid VCPR can discuss acute or chronic conditions, discuss a diagnosis, treatment plan in addition to prescribing medications if required. This is slightly different from Virual Health. 


For client without a valid VCPR, Virtual Health can help guide clients in need of general advice.These clients do not receive a diagnosis nor prescriptions, but they can get answers to general questions or concerns. Having a hard time determining if a symptom is urgent and the veterinary office is closed and the emergency room is cross town?  We can help clients determine if their pet needs urgent care or schedule an appointment with primary veterinarian in the morning .

  • 24-48hr of vomiting

  • 24-72hrs of acute coughing

  • Feline URI

  • Lameness

  • Change of behavior

  • Skin issues (rashes,licking, biting area)

  • 24-48hr vomiting/bile

  • Ear issues (shaking, scratching)

  • Referrals to emergency/specialist facility

  • Prescriptions

  • Arthritis

Getting Started:

To get started, download the TeleVet app on the iTunes or Google Play store and create your personal profile and your pets (pictures encouraged!). When you need us, create a consultation request detailing your pet’s issue. Upload any pictures or videos, instant message, and talk with us face to face through a video conference call to help get your pet feeling better again. 

Booking a Consultation:

As of right now, Televet ONLY has two options for consultations. A standard Consultation and Recheck consultations. These consultations operate differently. 


Consultations are for existing clients whom have a valid VCPR with us. Consultations are for any new concerns and will last 30 minutes. Our exceptional Veterinary team will discuss concerns, diagnosis, a treatment plan, and/or medications if required. They can diagnose most chronic and acute concerns or recommend emergency care.   

Rechecks are for BOTH clients with valid VCPR with us or not. Recheck consultations are for recurring issues or for client who DO NOT have a valid VCPR and are seeking general advice under Virtual Health guidelines. These consultations generally last 15-30 minutes. For VITC clients who have a recurrent issue after receiving a full consultation about same issue should elect RECHECK consultation. For these clients specifically will readdress concerns with a veterinarian and adjust course of treatment. Perhaps, try a different medication or recommend further diagnostics.

Virual Health Consultations are for clients we have never met before. They are welcome to come through our chat seeking general advice. They will chat with a veterinary professional, who can help guide them through their concerns. Although, we are not allowed to diagnose or prescribe any medications for their pet, we can help ease their minds or suggest further evaluation from primary veterinarian as soon as possible. These consultations are 15 minutes long. If the consultation last longer than 15min, we will adjust prices to reflect regular recheck pricing. 


Below is a layout of our charges. Televet will charge an additional $5 processing fee to our list prices. Most insurance companies will cover Telehealth, we encourage you to check with your provider. For Virtual health clients, please take note, because there are only two consultation options through Televet they will put a HOLD for $99. Once consult is complete, clients will ONLY be charged $45.
